Million women suffer from uterine prolapse

A new research study carried out by Sustainable Development Programme (SDP) and Environmental Agriculture and Development Centre (EADC) has found that over 1 million Nepali women are uterine prolapsed.

The study report was made public amidst a function organised in Birendranagar on Monday.

Around 44 percent of women in Mugu district suffer from this disease, 42 percent in Saptari, 33 percent in Surkhet, 30 percent in Siraha, 28 percent each in Bardiya and Dailekh, 25 percent each in Banke and Achham districts.

The research organisations have urged to government to address this grave health problem by formulating appropriate policies and programmes.

Further, the research states that women suffering from the disease keep mum because they lack awareness and fear society. nepalnews.com ia Oct 09 07
