SLC supplement pass-outs might lose one year
Continued strike by various groups and the sheer negligence on the part of the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) and the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) for School Leaving Certificate (SLC), thousands of students who have passed SLC supplementary exams would have to wait a year to continue their education.
The registration for the HSEB will close this week but the OCE has not sent mark sheets of the students passed in supplementary examinations to concerned schools in most of the districts in Terai and eastern hills.
The strike and imposition of curfew in eastern districts also hindered the delivery of certificates.
The supplementary exam results were published about three months earlier. Though the OCE said mark sheets would be sent to districts within a week, it has not yet delivered them to schools in Terai and eastern hilly districts.
Once the registration in the HSEB closes, the students will have to wait a year to enrol in grade XI.
When Nepalnews contacted the HSEB and OCE, none of the office-bearers were ready to comment on the issue. nepalnews.com ia Oct 10 07
