Martin calls on PM, Speaker
A day before flying to New York to present the report of the latest political developments in Nepal, chief of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) Ian Martin met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Speaker Subas Nemwang Saturday.
During the meeting with PM Koirala held at the latter's residence in Baluwatar in the morning, Martin expressed concern over the delay in implementation of the peace agreements effectively.
He also drew attention of the PM over the repeated violation of agreements by the Maoist army, government's indifference towards improving the conditions in cantonment, continued human rights violations and lack of government commitments to punish the human rights violators.
In response, PM Koirala said the government was committed to implement the agreements reached earlier and expressed hope that the current political deadlock would end very soon.
After his meeting with Koirala, the UNMIN chief met with Speaker Nemwang at the latter's office in Singha Durbar. The two chiefly discussed the ongoing special session of the House and the possible solution to the political crisis. nepalnews.com ia Oct 13 07
