Govt not to disburse perks to 38 palace staffers
The Ministry of General Administration has decided to stop the perks of 38 royal palace staffers who have crossed the age limit.
According to Yubaraj Pandey, secretary of the ministry, at least 38 palace staffers who have crossed the age limit (58 yrs) will not get salaries anymore. He said these officials have been disobeying the government's decision to give compulsory retirement to civil servants once they cross the age limit.
Few months earlier, the government had decided to bring the royal palace employees under the civil service. Only 13 officials out of 51 had voluntarily retired from the palace service following the government decision.
Meanwhile, the royal palace is learnt to have decided to give retirement to the 38 officials from November 2.
The palace administration's decision to remove them from service comes after the General Administration Ministry's notification to stop the perks of staffers who have crossed the age limit. nepalnews.com mk Oct 18 07
