King Gyanendra visits Hanumandhoka despite govt 'ban'
King Gyanendra performed worship at the Dashain Ghar in Hanumandhoka Dhoka Thursday evening despite the government’s decision not to allow him to attend religious functions he used to attend earlier.
King Gyanendra went to Hanumandhoka soon after Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala returned from the traditional army parade organised at Tundikhel to mark Fulpati, the seventh day of Dashain festival. In previous years, the King used to attend the army’s Fulpati function at Tundikhel.
Queen Komal also accompanied the King at Hanumandhoka.
The King’s arrival at Hanumandhoika was marked by sloganeering by this supporters and protest by Maoist cadres. However, no untoward incidents were reported during the royal couple’s visit.
No special security was provided to the royal couple during their visit, it is learnt.
Earlier, the Fulpati, brought from Gorkha, would enter the Dashain Ghar at Hanumandhoka amidst a function attended by the King, but this time the Fulpati was received “at the government level." nepalnews.com mk Oct 18 07
