SAARC interior ministers gather in New Delhi
Interior ministers of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) have gathered in Indian capital New Delhi to discuss measures to combat terrorism, human trafficking and other cross-border crimes.
Home ministers of Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Bhutan and Afghanistan are to meet on Thursday to discuss the issues of common concerns.
Exemption of visa fee for citizens of SAARC member states is one the issues being taken up by the ministerial conference, which kicked off on Tuesday.
Home Minister Krishna Prasad Situala left for New Delhi this afternoon to participate in the conference.
Meanwhile, the secretary-level meeting today amended the decisions of a meeting of SAARC police chiefs held yesterday, reports said. The police chiefs agreed to exchange information and cooperate with each other on various other fronts to curb terrorist activities, human and drug trafficking.
The SAARC ministers' conference will conclude tomorrow endorsing the decisions of the secretary-level meeting.
