Kojagrat Purnima today; PM and King both to visit Bhaktapur temple
The two-weeks-long Dashain festival is finally drawing to a close with Kojagrat Purnima being celebrated throughout the country on Friday.
On this final day of Dashain, people worship Mahalaxmi – the Goddess of Wealth. People tend to stay awake the whole night as it is believed that Goddess Mahalaxmi will bless those who are found worshipping her by staying awake.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala is scheduled to visit the Navadurga temple in Bhaktapur at 4 pm in the afternoon, on Friday, in his capacity as acting head of state. However, King Gyanendra is also planning to visit the temple half an hour after the PM does so.
The tradition of visiting the temple on Kojagrat Purnima was set by late King Birendra since 1988. nepalnews.com sd Oct 26 07
