Abducted boy safely returned to parents; JTMM abducts two in Saptari

A boy who was abducted from Rajbiraj Municipality two days ago has been safely delivered to his parents, much to the relief of everybody, thanks to Indian police’s rescue efforts.

Indian police rescued the 7-yr-old son of Raj Kumar Bhagat of Rajbiraj Municipality Ward no. 7, from the hands of his abductors following a raid carried out in a house in bordering Indian village yesterday.

The boy was whisked away from his house two days ago by two persons who came on a motorcycle.

Acting on a tip-off that the boy is being kept in Laukaha, a bordering Indian village, the Indian police had, with the help of locals, rescued the boy and safely handed him over to the Nepali police.

In the course of rescuing the boy the Indian police also arrested one Bechan Yadav who hails from Saptari district for his involvement in the abduction of the child, police said. Yadav is an active member of Jay Krishna Goit faction of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM).

After being rescued the boy was immediately handed over to his parents by the District Police Office, Saptari.

Meanwhile, cadres of Jwala Singh faction of Jantantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM–J) have abducted two innocent people in Saptari district late last night, despite announcing a unilateral ceasefire till November 17 for Chhath festival in which they have promised suspension of all armed activities including abduction.

An armed group of 4 to 5 JTMM-J cadres broke into the houses of Ram Dev Yadav, 25, of Patthargaudha VDC-5 and Sibu Yadav of Chapena VDC-9 and took them to an undisclosed location, RSS reported.

JTMM-J district coordinator Kaushal claimed responsibility for the abduction by telephoing local media persons and said the two were abducted for “purchasing land against the decision of the party” and acting as a informer.

The two factions of JTMM have been involved in targeted killings, abduction and extortion in Terai region. nepalnews.com ag Oct 26 07
