Shah abducted by Maoists, concludes Reporters' Club
Following a field observation and study by its team, the Reporters' Club Nepal has concluded that journalist Birendra Shah has been abducted by the Maoists.
In its report made public on Friday, the Club has said that Shah has been abducted by local level leaders of Maoists of Bara district.
"Maoist district leaders Lal Bahadur Chaudhary, Hareram Patel and others were involved in his abduction," the report says.
The Club's finding matches with the conclusion reached by a parliamentary probe panel.
Although it has been 22 days since he was abducted, the whereabouts of Shah still remains unknown.
Meanwhile, issuing a statement on Friday, Maoists' Bara district committee has claimed that it is not involved in Shah's abduction. The committee has alleged that reports by parliamentary panel, FNJ, Press Chautari and INSEC – which pointed at the hand of local Maoist leaders in the abduction - were one-sided and prejudiced. nepalnews.com sd Oct 27 07
