YCL cadres thrash villagers for worshipping at a local temple

Maoist aligned Young Communist League (YCL) cadres mercilessly beat up 14 innocent villagers of Dhaulagoha VDC in remote Kalikot district with batons and showered kicks and punches at them. The YCL cadres also injured few of them with Khukuri.

The villagers said that a group of more than one hundred YCL cadres had beaten up the locals accusing them of performing religious worship at a local temple during Dashain festival against their decree not to do so.

A six-year-old girl child of Dhaulagoha-8 and an elderly in his late 60's are among those who have received such inhumane treatment at the hands of the YCL cadres, according to District Police Office, Kalikot.

Those who received beating from the Maoists have suffered injuries in their head, forehead, chest, stomach, face, hands and legs. Among the injured, the condition of three is said to be very serious.

Six police personnel from the Area Police Office in Thirpu and 15 Armed Police Force personnel from APF Base camp in Thirpu have reached Dhaulagoha to calm the situation after getting the information about the incident. nepalnews.com ag Oct 27 07
