Petrol stops eluding valley consumers
With the capital city gradually returning to normalcy Sunday after the ten-day long Dashain festival, vehicle owners here finally have some respite without having to face shortage of petroleum products like before.
Before Dashain, sights of consumers waiting in long serpentine queues in front of petrol pumps to refill their vehicles were normal. However, on Sunday, the first day after the Dashain holidays ended, no such queues were seen – there was not much of a crowd in front of petrol stations in the valley as before.
“The market is gradually limping back to normalcy,” Sharad Bhandari, general secretary of Petroleum Dealers’ Association, told Kantipur Daily.
According to him, diesel and petrol can easily be found in more than half petrol pumps of Kathmandu valley now. He said that if the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) supplies an additional 200,000 to 300,000 liters of petrol, the situation would return to full normalcy from Wednesday. There are 82 private and 6 government run petrol pumps in the valley. nepalnews.com ag Oct 29 07
