Acting president of the Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala has urged the Maoists and the UML, two major communist parties in the parliament, to withdraw their proposals at the parliament to end deadlock.

Addressing Tuesday's session of the House, Koirala said his party would not compromise against the provisions of the interim constitution promulgated with common consensus.

He said threats or warnings from Maoists will not deviate NC from its position because it has already reached the last stage of compromise.

Speaking on the occasion, UML leader Bam Dev Gautam urged NC to rethink its stance against republican motion and the Maoists to vote on the UML proposal that could find a common solution acceptable to both the sides.

Leaders of the various parties continue to speak on the second day of the special House session that resumed on Monday after two weeks. nepalnews.com ia Oct 30 07
