Araniko highway opens
Transportation has resumed in Araniko highway from Tuesday night after the indefinite strike was withdrawn.
Workers of transport vehicles plying in the highway had imposed indefinite strike since Monday demanding security to them and control of criminal activities.
The talks between the workers, and security officials held at the District Administration Office of Kavre on Tuesday reached 7-point agreement to end the strike.
According to Kavre Chief District Officer Kabiraj Khanal, the agreement has been reached to strengthen law and order situation, and to recommend proper compensation for the vehicles vandalised by the rowdy elements in the past.
Araniko highway is the only overland route linking Kathmandu with Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. nepalnews.com sd Oct 31 07
