Police arrest 12 YCL cadres in Dhangadhi

Police have arrested 12 cadres of Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) on charges of extortion and abduction on Tuesday from the far western town of Dhangadhi.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Ganesh Rai, they were arrested as they tried to abduct a local restaurant operator. Local city in-charge of YCL Rajesh Chaudhary has also been arrested.

Police have recovered five khukuris and seven lathis from their possession. Rai said that the police were keeping close watch on the YCL cadres due to increased incidents of extortion and abduction in the area.
