Prithivi highway obstructed after death of girl child
Irate locals have obstructed traffic along the Malekhu section of the Prithivi highway after a road mishap Wednesday morning that left a girl child dead.
According to police, Anju Nepali, 6, a resident of Mahadevsthan VDC-4 of Dhading succumbed to her injuries after a microbus heading to Pokhara from Kathmandu ran over her at Malekhu at around 10 am in the morning. Anju was in Malekhu with her family to visit her maternal uncle.
After the accident the girl was rushed to the nearby Highway Community Hospital in Malekhu where she was declared dead by the doctors, reports said.
Police meanwhile have taken the microbus and its driver into custody for investigation.
The kin of the deceased child and the locals have also demanded proper compensation for victim’s family and action against the culprit.
Meanwhile, due to the disruption of traffic hundreds of commuters remain stranded at various sections of the highway. It is still not clear when the obstruction would be cleared, reports said. nepalnews.com ag Oct 31 07
