Sitaula faces wrath of Kapilbastu locals; agrees to take action against administrators

Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula had to face the wrath of irate locals in Chandrauta and Krishna Nagar of Kapilbastu district on Saturday.

The locals raised slogans and demanded that the government take immediate action against administrators and police officials for their 'failure to protect public lives and properties."

Speaking in Chandrauta, Sitaula assured locals that he will take action against Chief District Officer Narendra Dahal and district police chief. He said that although the enforcement of election code of conduct will prevent the government from taking any decision regarding them, the government will find some alternate ways to penalise them.

Sitaula along with Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Rajendra Mahato, State Minister for Transport Ramesh Lekhak, UML leader Jhal Nath Khanal and Maoist leader Pampha Bhusal toured the affected region on Saturday.

Meanwhile, interior parts of Kapilbastu still remain tense with sporadic incidents of looting being reported till Saturday.

In Dang, too, administration has clamped curfew in Lamahi and Tulsipur on Saturday also.

Since the killing of one Mohit Khan – an ex leader of anti Maoist resistance group and leader of Madhesi Loktantrik Mukti Morcha – by unidentified persons on September 16, parts of Kapilbastu have been under siege with violent mobs attacking people and private properties. In the ensuing communal tension, around 30 persons have lost their lives and 5000 have been displaced. nepalnews.com sd Sep 22 07
