Maoists have weakened ideologically and politically, says Nepal
In the wake of a series of physical attacks by Maoist cadres against his party's workers, general secretary of Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal has accused the Maoist leaders of promoting the 'hooliganism' among their workers.
"When a person becomes ideologically and politically very weak, then he/she resorts to physical assaults. Maoist workers are doing the same," Nepal told reporters after he visited an injured party worker Dudh Prasad Ghale in Teaching Hospital on Wednesday.
Ghale had been seriously injured after Maoist students and YCL cadres beat him mercilessly and left him for dead on the banks of Seti river a few days ago in Pokhara.
Nepal has accused that YCL had adopted 'Mandale' (vigilantes during Panchayat regime) character. He said YCL would finish off the status of their mother party Maoists soon.
He urged his workers not to retaliate physically but expose them politically.
Meanwhile, after the YCL cadres attacked over two dozen UML workers in Beda VDC of Dhading district on Wednesday, the UML has announced indefinite bandh in Dhading district from Thursday. nepalnews.com sd Sep 27 07
