The police have arrested 17 persons suspecting their involvement in the violence in Kapilvastu district.

The District Police Office of Taulihawa have arrested the persons. Thirteen were arrested from Chandrauta and four from Krishna Nagar.

Police have kept them in detention and are proceeding with further investigation.

In a weeklong communal unrest that followed the killing of a local leader Mohit Khan on September 16, around 30 persons are said to have been killed while 5000 have been displaced from different parts of the district.

Meanwhile, owing to improving security situation, the administration has cut down curfew hours. In Taulihawa, curfew has been lifted between 5 am and 5 pm; while curfew in Chandrauta and Krishna Nagar have been lifted between 6 am and 6 pm. nepalnews.com sd Sep 27 07
