UML imposes bandh in Dhading protesting YCL attack

The district unit of Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) in Dhading have imposed indefinite strike there from Thursday protesting the attack against its workers by Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) cadres.

The bandh has affected businesses and other activities in the district. In district headquarters Dhadingbesi, UML cadres have organised protest rallies. They also assaulted a local Maoist leader Tek Bahadur Nepal.

The UML workers have also obstructed transport movement in Naubise, Baireni and Malekhu areas of Prithvi Highway.

On Wednesday evening, around 30 UML workers were injured when YCL activists attacked them in Beda VDC. The UML cadres were attacked at around 5 pm in the evening.

The attack occurred in the backdrop of dispute regarding management of a school in Kiranchowk VDC of the district.

Nine of the injured persons have been brought to Kathmandu for treatment while the rest are receiving treatment at Community Highway Hospital in Malekhu.

The UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal visited the injured workers at the hospital on Thursday morning. He warned the Maoists against repeating such mindless attacks. nepalnews.com sd Sep 27 07
