UML calls for immediate decision on Maoist demands
The CPN (UML) has urged the ruling allies to arrive at an understanding on the Maoist demands as early as possible.
A meeting of the UML standing committee held at party’s central office in Balkhu Friday morning made the call, saying that constituent assembly election would be meaningless if the Maoists boycotted it.
Jhal Nath Khanal, a standing committee member, said the meeting decided to ask the Maoists to return to the government and cooperate in the election process.
The meeting, according to him, also discussed the agendas of the top-level meeting of the seven parties, which is scheduled to take place at Baluwatar this afternoon.
UML’s central committee meeting is to begin form Saturday. The meeting will endorse the party’s election agendas and finalise the list of election candidates. nepalnews.com mk Sep 28 07
