EC recognises Anandidevi's party; Mahato asked to register separately by Saturday
Ending the debate between two bickering factions of the Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP-Anandidevi), the Election Commission (EC) has decided to recognise the one led by Anandidevi Singh as the legitimate NSP-A.
The EC, however, has given a respite to the dissident faction led by Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Rajendra Mahato by giving them opportunity to register as a separate party.
The EC has asked the Mahato-led faction to register as a separate party by Saturday 4 pm for the purpose of contesting the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
The NSP-A had split vertically after serious differences emerged between the two factions. Mahato-led group held its general convention in Birgunj recently despite Anandidevi Singh's announcement to suspend it – formally bringing about the division in the party. nepalnews.com sd Sep 28 07
