Cold-related diseases claim 9 lives
At least nine persons, including a minor, have died of cold-related diseases in two VDCs of the mid-western remote district of Jumla in the past couple of weeks.
Sunita Kami, 8; Khamma Budha, 45; Pashupati Budha, 40; Parbati Budha, 35; Ratiman Budha, 45 and Angsing Rokaya, 45, of Badaki VDC and similarly Kallel Basnet, 54; Panchakali Basnet and Kali Rana, 55 of Mallika Dhant VDC died of cold, cough and other cold-related diseases, district's health authorities said.
Chief at District Public Health Office, Dr Sanjaya Thakur told the Kathmandu Post that a medical team had been sent to the affected site with medicine soon after they were informed about the epidemic.
