Tourist arrival continues to grow
Arrival of tourists by air continues to increase in the month of March for this year, with 40,032 tourists arriving.
This is an increase by 17.3 percent compared to the same month last year, the figure released by Immigration Office, TIA stated.
The Indian market, which suffered a negative growth for the last few months, also witnessed a of 9 percent increase. Bangladesh recorded a robust growth with 47 percent increase.
European markets registered optimistic figures. The arrival growths from Denmark (178 percent), Norway (83 percent), Spain (64 percent), Sweden (134 percent) and Austria (55 percent) were very noteworthy increases.
Moreover, the UK and USA markets reflected a very promising sign of growing consumer confidence on Nepal as the UK market grew by 27 percent with considerable share (10 percent) and the USA rose by 42 percent with 8 percent contribution in the total arrivals.
Though Japanese market marked negative growth, arrivals from France and Germany grew by 34 percent and 8 percent respectively. Malaysia, Thailand and Israel are the markets with negative growth this month. nepalnews.com ia Apr 03 08
