Bull makes a comeback at NEPSE
After making a modest recovery last week after a month of decline, bullish trend made a comeback again at the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) with its index posting a double digit growth of 27.17 points to close at 730.14 points on Thursday, the last day of stock trading.
According to the data provided by NEPSE, a total of 0.73 million shares changed hands in the bourse this week to register a turnover of Rs 431.4 million. Last week, shares worth Rs 288 million were traded. The turnover saw a 50 percent increase from what it was last week as the shares of bank promoters entered the market this week.
Trade analysts said the availability of comfortable liquidity in the banking system has pushed up the prices.
Group wise share indices showed that the banking sector was the major gainers this week as its index climbed up 38.51 points to close at 719.92 points. Similarly, development banks' group, trading group and hydropower sector were also the gainers this week while the manufacturing group and hotels' group suffered losses this week. nepalnews.com ag Apr 06 08
