Carter Center officials meet YCL leaders
Senior officials of the Carter Centre met chairman of the
Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) Ganesh Man Pun Wednesday
afternoon.
The meeting held at Soaltee Hotel where visiting former US President and
co-founder of the Carter Center, Jimmy Carter, is staying, comes in the
wake of fresh poll-related violence that has claimed the lives of eight
cadres of the CPN-Maoist, the parent party of YCL, since Tuesday evening.
During the meeting, Center's officials are learnt to have asked Pun about
the allegations made against Maoist cadres that they are involved in
attacking activists of other political parties.
YCL general secretary Dilip Prajapati was also present at the meeting.
YCL chairman Pun told reporters that he explained to Center's officials
that "minor clashes" that are common during election are magnified beyond
proportions by attaching YCL's name with it.
He also said he told them that the YCL was committed to creating a
