Mahara dons the victory cap in Dang-3
Another CPN-Maoist candidate Krishna Bahadur Mahara has emerged victorious in Dang constituency-3 by securing 20,492 votes, adding to the winning streak of his party across the country. His closest contender in the constituency Anita Devkota of Nepali Congress managed to garner 7,818 votes.
Mahara is the second Maoist minister after Dev Prasad Gurung who has secured a victory in the polls till now. Gurung had been declared a winner from the sole constituency in Manang late yesterday night.
Talking to reporters after he was declared the winner in the constituency, a jubiliant Mahara, who is also the spokesperson of his party, claimed that his party would secure a majority in this election.
Hisila Yami, another Maoist minister in the Koirala cabinet, is well ahead of his contenders in Kathmandu constituency-7 and is expected to win there.
