In yet another instance of bank robbery, a group of armed men looted over Rs 8 lakh from the Sinamangal located branch of Bank of Kathmandu Sunday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, three men who had come on two motorcycles had made away with a briefcase containing the cash that was brought from the bank's head office.
The looters had overpowered the bank's security guard and two other lady staffs prior to attempting the heist. They had attacked the security guard with khukuri when he tried to resist them, seriously wounding him in the process. Police said the guard who has been identified as Dambar Bahadur Basnet is undergoing treatment at the nearby Kathmandu Medical College.
