Govt to conduct linguistic survey
The government has decided to conduct a study of all the languages spoken in the country from this year on.
The National Planning Commission has already earmarked a budget for this purpose and has given the responsibility of conducting the study to Tribhuvan University’s Department of Linguistics, Kantipur Daily reported.
A committee under the convenorship of Prof Dr Yogendra Prasad Yadav, Head of TU’s Department of Linguistics, has been formed to conduct this study. The committee also comprises linguistic experts Prof Dr Chundamani Bandhu, Prof Dr Tej Ratna Kansakar, Prof Dr Madhav Prasad Pokharel, Prof Dr Nobel Kishor Rai and Prof Nirmal Man Tuladhar.
