Maoists' vote share come below 30 percent in PR count
As the counting of the votes under the Proportional Representation (PR) category draws to close, the Maoists' share of votes have come down below 30 percent.
According to the Election Commission (EC), till Wednesday evening, the Maoists have bagged 31,19,172 votes. This is 29.29 percent of the 1,06,48,341 votes counted.
The two major parties Nepali Congress (NC) and Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) trail behind in second and third position, respectively. NC has garnered 22,53,797 votes (21.17 percent) whereas UML has pocketed 21,58,437 votes (20.27 percent).
The Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) is in fourth position with 674,853 votes (6.34 percent) followed by Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) with 335,533 votes (3.15 percent).
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is in sixth position with 261,644 votes while Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP-Nepal) is in eleventh position with 110,062 votes. Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) trails RPP-Nepal in thirteenth position with 101,223 votes.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the PR vote counting could be completed by Thursday.
The EC has said that after calculating the number of seats for each party, the information will be submitted to the parties, who can then select their candidates from among the previously-submitted closed lists within two weeks.
