The crucial central working committee meeting of Nepali Congress (NC) will begin from Thursday.
All the candidates and district party committees from all 75 districts have submitted their report analyzing the party’s stunning defeat in the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
The CWC will evaluate the reports apart from discussing party’s strategy in the coming days when a new government needs to be formed and CA will start discussing writing of a new constitution.
NC central member Dr Minendra Rijal told Kantipur Daily that during the meeting there would be discussion on the strategy the party would adopt to draft a new constitution through the Constituent Assembly and the build an atmosphere for forming a government. There would also be discussion on whether NC should join the new government to be formed under Maoist leadership and other alternatives for forming government.
Meanwhile, the meeting of NC's Baitadi district working committee dissolved the 42-member committee on Wednesday following the party's defeat in the recent CA polls.
The meeting held to review the party's loss in the CA polls proposed the names of nine NC activists, including former central committee member, Krsihna Kumar Joshi, for disciplinary action alleging them of assisting rival party candidates during the election.
The meeting headed by NC district chairman, Narendra Bista, also suggested the party to take up the role of opposition instead of joining the Maoist-led government. nepalnews.com sd/ag Apr 24 08
