NHRC seeks probe details of rights violation cases during polls
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Home Ministry, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force to furnish the details of reported cases of human rights violations in Rautahat, Surkhet and Dang districts during the polls process.
In a meeting with the chiefs of the police forces and officials of the ministry, NHRC officials asked the authorities to bring the culprits to book.
The rights watchdog sought details of the investigation carried out by the government authorities regarding the killing of UML candidate in Surkhet 1 Rishi Prasad Sharma on April 8, bomb blast at VDC office in Rajpur Parahdawa of Rautahat district and killing of seven Maoist cadres in police firing in Lamahi of Dang district.
Home Ministry secretary Umesh Mainali, Inspector General of Nepal Police Om Bikram Rana, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Basudev Oli attended the meeting called by the NHRC at its headquarter in Lalitpur.
