Koirala rejects NC acting president’s resignation
Prime Minister and Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala has rejected the resignation of acting party president Sushil Koirala.
A press statement issued by the Nepali Congress Sunday said that president Koirala refused to accept the resignation with the belief that the responsibility of the acting president will be important in tackling with the challenges facing the party.
Sushil had resigned from his post immediately after he lost the election from Banke-3. While announcing his resignation, he had also taken responsibility for the poor performance of the NC in constituent assembly election.
Notwithstanding the resignation offer, Sushil had presided over the meeting of the party’s central working committee on Thursday.
President Koirala has refused to accept the acting president’s resignation at a time when the party leadership is facing intense pressure from its ranks to bring “third generation” leaders into the central body. nepalnews.com mk Apr 27 08
