A Tharu group opposes single terai province

A day after Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) coordinator Upendra Yadav reiterated his party's stand on single Madhes province in the federal Nepal, Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha - a group of Tharu community - has opposed the idea.

The oraganisation through a statement on Tuesday said 'some parties' have shadowed the demand for self determination while advocating for federalism.

The oganisation said it condemns the demands of unified Madhes, claiming that it is not acceptable to all of the terai/Madhes residents.

It has warned of stronger protests if the idea was implemented.

Further, the organisation has asked the parties to ensure enough representatives from the Tharu community in the constituent assembly. It said parties failed to nominate enough Tharu candidates in the first-past-the-post system. nepalnews.com ia Apr 29 08
