11 killed in Gulmi jeep accident
At least 11 people were killed and more than two dozen others injured when a passenger jeep met with an accident in the western district of Gulmi Friday morning.
The Lu-1-Ja 552 jeep skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Duagaha VDC at around 10 am, reports said.
The ill-fated jeep was carrying attendants for a CPN-Maoist programme in Gulmi headquarters Tamghas. Police and local people rescued the injured people and took them to nearly clinics.
Those killed in the accident have been identified as Dev Bahadur Gyawali, Ram Prasad Ghimire, 9-yr-old Narmada Bhandari, Liladhar Khanal, Danda Bahadur Pandey, Bal Bahadur Darji, Khim Bahadur Sunar, Farsa Bahadur Gharti Magar, Krishna Shrestha, Govinda Giri and jeep driver Shiva Pandey.
Eight persons who were critically injured in accident have been taken to United Mission Hospital in Palpa while others are ongoing treatment at local hospitals. nepalnews.com mk Feb 15 08
