Seven party meeting to end Terai deadlock

The top leaders of seven parties are expected to hold meeting on Wednesday to end the deadlock in Terai.

The meeting is expected to take place in Baluwatar at 11 am, following which cabinet meeting is also expected.

The meeting is taking place amid increasing uncertainty over the poll schedule of Election Commission (EC).

According to EC schedule, Wednesday is the deadline for submitting closed-list of candidates for proportional representation based election.

However, the agitating Madhesi parties have refused to participate in election unless their demands are fulfilled first.

"We are not going to submit our list at the EC. If the agitation is not addressed, we will not take part in Constituent Assembly (CA) election," said Upendra Yadav, chief of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF).

The seven parties are also debating whether to request the EC to postpone the deadline for filing candidate list. nepalnews.com sd Feb 20 08
