Madhesi leaders meet UML chief
Leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) meet CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal to discuss their demands and the current situation in Terai.
Leaders of UDMF Upendra Yadav and Jaya Prakash Gupta met with Nepal at the latter’s residence at Koteshwor and sought his support in getting their demands met before the constituent assembly polls scheduled for April 10, it is learnt.
The UML chief on his part asked the Terai leaders to withdraw their demands considering the fragile political situation in the country and suggested them to work for creating environment for polls.
Nepal also said to have urged the Madhesi leaders to drop the demands for “one Madhes one province” because this is an issue to be finalised by the CA itself.
Meanwhile, the government has invited the agitating Federal Republican Front, the alliance of the ethnic groups of eastern hills and Terai, for talks. nepalnews.com ia Feb 21 08
