Top leaders discuss Terai crisis
Top leaders of three main ruling parties, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist met on Sunday as part of their attempt to find early solution to the deepening Madhes crisis.
Maoist chairman Prachanda and UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal conferred with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala in Baluwatar in the afternoon, trying to evolve a common position on issues raised by the agitating Madhesi parties.
It was not immediately clear as to what conclusion the leaders reached on the Terai issue, but they 'agreed' to conduct the constituent assembly election on the scheduled date (April 10).
Quoting PM Koirala, Prachanda said a solution to the Terai impasse is expected to come by this evening.
The Maoist chairman didn’t however divulge the details of the government’s preparations as explained by the PM at the meeting. nepalnews.com mk Feb 24 08
