The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP-Nepal) has decided to stay away from the April 10 election for Constituent Assembly (CA).
Known as a pro-monarchist party, the RPP-Nepal has decided to boycott the polls pointing at the situation in Terai.
"If an election is held by annoying one-half of the country's population, it will lead to civil war," said party president Rabindra Nath Sharma.
"We have decided to boycott the polls in order to express solidarity with the Madhesi population and in order to prevent the rise of ethnicity and region based politics," Sharma said.
The RPP-Nepal's decision follows the similar decision made by Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) - which is led by former prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa - to boycott the polls. While the RJP did not even submit the closed-list of its candidates for the election, the RPP-Nepal had submitted the list last Wednesday. nepalnews.com sd Feb 24 08
