Talks with FRNF reach nowhere
The talks between the government and the Federal Republican National Front (FRNF), which stretched for two days, ended inconclusively on Monday.
The Front, which includes a number of ethnic and regional based parties, has been imposing indefinite bandh in eastern region of the country since last fourteen days.
According to Kishore Bishwas, vice president of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF-Gupta faction), the talks collapsed after the government did not meet their demands on election system.
"On our three-point demands, the government did not meet the demand on changing the election system. The government did not accept the demand for fully proportional representation system," Bishwas said.
The FRNF has said it will now continue with its indefinite strike. nepalnews.com sd Feb 26 08
