Taulihawa shut following attack on businessman
Taulihawa, the district headquarters of Kapilvastu, remains shut on Monday due to a general strike called by the business community, protesting the physical assault on a local businessman last evening.
Marketplaces and educational institutions have closed while vehicles remain off the road. The general strike was called by Taulihawa Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
The protest was organised demanding security to business people after a gang of looters attacked the owner of Nityananda Jewellers, Ramdev Verma, on Sunday evening.
The attackers looted around Rs 60,000 cash and 18 tolas of gold from Verma and his son Sachhidananda. Verma was injured in head with bullet fired by the looters.
