Construction on alternate road linking Rolpa to Gorahi starts
Construction work on an alternative road linking remote district headquarters Liwang of Rolpa district to Ghorahi, Dang has begun.
The construction of 5 km out of 12 km was completed as it was begun on December 17, 2007, state run news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported.
"The remaining part will be completed soon," Hari Malla, engineer of District Technical Office, Rolpa told the news agency.
District Development Committee has allocated Rs. 6,600,000 for the construction of the road. The need for the construction of alternative road was felt because a shorter route was needed to connect the district headquarters. Currently Liwang-Pyuthan-Ghorahi road is being used for the same purpose.
According to the report, the road has been called Agriculture Road and the locals have expected that it will be a great help for easy transport of vegetables and fruits produced in Rolpa to Ghorahi and other parts of the district.
Meanwhile, the survey of the road connecting Galchhi to Rasuwa district of Prithvi Highway has resumed. The road will be developed into a transit point after the Galchhi-Syaphrubesi road connecting Rasuwa and Nuwakot straight to Terai is constructed, the news agency reported
The Asian Development Bank is reported to have extended assistance for the survey. The length of the road from Galchhi to Syaphrubesi is 89 kilometers while agreement has been reached with the Government of China to construct 16 kilometer road from Timure of Rasuwa to Gaddi. nepalnews.com ag Jan 22 08
