India donates 1200 vehicles, 14000 communication sets to Nepal
The Government of India has donated 1,200 four-wheel drive vehicles and 14,000 sets of communication equipment to Nepal.
Indian ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee handed over the vehicles and communication equipment to Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula during a function organised at the Indian Embassy on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, ambassador Mukherjee reiterated that India wished to see Nepal's transition to a democratic, peaceful and prosperous country and reaffirmed India's commitment to support “in whatever manner possible the efforts aimed at creating a new democratic, stable and prosperous Nepal in accordance with the wishes of the people of Nepal”.
He also underlined the importance of conducting constituent assembly elections in a free and fair manner and expressed the hope that the assistance provided by the Government of India would facilitate the efforts of the Nepal government in this regard.
