Bird flu alert in bordering districts
Local administrations in some eastern districts bordering India have started taking measures to prevent possible spread of bird flu from Indian states.
The District Administration Office (DAO) of Siraha has banned the import of poultry products from India after cases of bird flu were reported in Bihar.
Banning the import of chicken, eggs, ducks and other birds from various border points in the district, the DAO has put the police and customs officials at high alert to check the import of such products, chief district officer Balkrishna Panthi told RSS.
Likewise, strict vigil is being maintained in the areas bordering West Bengal, India, citing the bird flu scare there. The Jhapa district administration has strictly banned import of live birds and poultry products from across the border.
