FSU election likely to be put off
The election of the Free Students Union (FSU) in campuses is likely to be put off in view of the nearing constituent assembly polls.
A meeting of the seven-party Steering Committee held at the Maoist central office, Buddhanagar, Tuesday morning discussed the issue, reaching a tentative agreement to suggest the parties and their student wings to defer FSU polls slated for February 28.
The committee members emphasised that collage students should have greater participation in the CA election campaigning, sources said.
Student organisations are yet to react to the committee’s advice.
Although, earlier, there was confusion whether the FSU election would take place, the student organisations had geared up for the election after the Maoist student wing, All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) agreed to participate in it. nepalnews.com mk Jan 29 08
