Transporters warn of indefinite strike

Transport entrepreneurs have warned to bring the public transport to a grinding halt unless the government ensures smooth supplies of diesel.

Addressing a press meet at the Reporters' Club, on Thursday, representatives of transport entrepreneurs warned that they would launch indefinite strike in the capital valley beginning February 3.

They, however, said they would not obstruct the flow of private vehicles.

After the government rolled back the hike in the price of diesel, kerosene and cooking gas in the face of violent street protests, there is acute shortage of these fuels in the market.

Vehicles are standing in serpentine queues in limited petrol stations in the valley.

Reports say that already 75 percent of diesel-run vehicles have come off the road due to lack of fuel. nepalnews.com sd Jan 31 08
