Explosion at IOM office in Damak
Explosion at the office of the International Organisation of Migration (IOM) in Damak Monday night destroyed part of the building near its main gate.
According to apfanews.com, a news portal run by refugees, the explosion took place at around 8 p.m.
Nepal Samacharpatra daily says a few people who passed by the road in front of the office hurled three small bombs into the office before running away.
The daily quotes a local police officer as saying the explosion did minor damage to the building. No casualty has been reported.
Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (Jwala Singh) has clamied over the responsibility. According to local jounalists, Urlabari in-charge of the armed rebellion group operating in terai district, told over phone that his party cadres hurled bomb at IOM office by mistake, which should have been blasted at telephone towers.
IOM has been involved in resettling Bhutanese refugees to United States, which vows to take some 60,000 as a gesture to end the two-decade long crisis. nepalnews.com ia July 01 08
