Four die in road mishap
At least four persons died when a bus they were traveling in collided with a truck at Dagehat section of the East-West highway of Morang district late Monday night.
The bus with Indian license plate no. SK 048462 was en route to Biratnagar from Sikkim state of India. It was carrying a marriage procession.
Reports said the accident occurred as the bus tried to overtake the truck from behind, during which time the large consignment of bamboo the truck was carrying had tore through the front of the bus, killing 4 passengers immediately. Five more passengers were seriously injured in the accident.
The identities of the deceased have not been known yet but they are all said to be Indian nationals. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the Dharan located B.P Koirala Memorical Hospital.
District Police Office, Morang said that both the truck and bus drivers have been taken into custody.
Meanwhile, 5 people were injured when a jeep they were traveling in met with an accident in Kaski district.
Among the injured, the condition Chettra Bahadur Gurung, 60, of Lumle VDC-3 and Ram Maya B.K, 31, of Dhikur Pokhar-5 - is said to be very serious, District Police Office said.
