SLC in grade XII from next session proposed
The Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) has proposed to conduct School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations at grade XII from the next academic session in which students will be promoted on securing pass marks in major five subjects.
The grade X examination will then be shifted to regional level, extending the school years by two years.
The CDC has proposed up to grade VIII as primary level and IX-XII as secondary level. Promotion of students to next grade until grade VII will be based on their classroom performances.
Mother tongue languages will be the medium of instruction until grade III while they will be optional subjects after grade VI.
However, the CDC has not stated anything on structure of education system in federal Nepal for which the parties have already made commitments. nepalnews.com ia July 03 08
