NC dissidents call for special general convention
The dissident faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) has urged the party leadership to call special general convention in order of 'revitalise' the party organisation.
The meeting of dissident NC leaders held at the party's central office in Sapena Wednesday decided to ask Prime Minister and party president Girija Prasad Koirala to take steps to bring the party's organisation to its previous strength and, for that, call the special convention at the earliest.
According to a source, the NC dissidents also accused the party leadership of playing into the hands of the Maoists and the UML and complained that the party could not take a firm stand for return of properties seized by the Maoists during the insurgency.
NC general secretary Kul Bahadur Gurung chaired the meeting of the dissident leaders. Gurung currently chairs the Constituent Assembly as its eldest member. nepalnews.com mk July 09 08
