Tourism crucial for strengthening Nepal-German ties:
Bhattarai
Nepal's ambassador to Germany Dr Madan Kumar Bhattarai has
emphasised that tourism is one of the most promising areas
for further strengthening bilateral cooperation between
Nepal and Germany.
Speaking during a function organised in cooperation with
the Honorary Consulate of Nepal in Frankfurt, Germany, Dr
Bhattarai appreciated the economic and technical
assistance extended by Germany in the last five decades,
especially in three core areas of bilateral co-operation
covering renewable energy, health and family planning, and
local development and civil society, and tremendous
potentials for future cooperation in terms of economic
relations, trade, investments and tourism between the two
countries.
According to a statement issued by the embassy, the
ambassador informed the participants that though tourists
visiting Nepal in the past even during the conflict period
were not targeted, return of peace and tranquility in
Nepal and the conducive political and security atmosphere
have made Nepal a safer place for the tourists.
He invited the journalists and travel writers to
personally visit Nepal and make their own judgement on the
peaceful and exclusive natural paradise as Nepal is justly
known throughout the world.
Speaking on the occasion, Honorary Consul of Nepal for
Frankfurt and President of German-Asian Business Circle
Bodo Krueger spoke on the tourism potentials of Nepal and
requested German travel and tour operators to cooperate in
promoting tourism between Nepal and Germany.
Stating that journalists and tour operators had a great
role to convince the tourists about Nepal as a safe and
all-the-year-round destination, he expressed his
disapproval over the negative publicity in a section of
international press about Nepal and called for Airlines to
start direct services to Nepal and substantially
increasing the capacities of the airlines that operate
services to Nepal as the number of tourists was growing
after the restoration of peace and stability in the
country. nepalnews.com ia July 11 08
